We were delighted to host many of our volunteers on Tuesday afternoon in the garden at Winton House Centre, thankfully the sun shone whilst everyone enjoyed an afternoon tea.
Mike Waddington, the Vice Chair of Trustees spoke thanking all of the volunteers saying “Winton house is a real thriving happy place and you’re the reason why people come here – Today we sing for the unsung heroes you are, every one of you”. A few special mentions were made;
Sheila has recently stepped down as a volunteer after 9 years in the café, she had spoken with Mike saying what her years at Winton House had given her and the friendships made during her time.
Thanks were also given to Kyra Van Damme who has volunteered in the café and office during her 10 week stay in Petersfield. Kyra is from the Netherlands and her stay in the UK is part of her studies to become an English Teacher.

Alfie Younger has been on a supported internship from Alton College since September. He has worked in the café for 4 hours every Tuesday and even come in during the college holiday’s. Alfie has done a great job, is very popular with the customers and very liked by all his colleagues. Alfie is going to continue volunteering in the café when he leaves college.
During Cllr Chris Paige’s term in office as Mayor, Winton House were fortunate to be nominated one of his charities. Not only did he raise £800 but helped with the publicity and promotion of the centre and all that is available here.
Certificates were awarded to a number of volunteers in recognition of their long service and special thanks was given to everyone who helped make the day a success.
