Petersfield charities collaborate to bring isolated Afghanistan families together

by | Aug 26, 2022 | News | 0 comments

Age Concern Petersfield, Rural Refugee Network (RRN) and Winton House Centre facilitated a picnic on Petersfield Heath for Afghan refugees placed by East Hampshire and Havant District Council.
Many families had not met before, but the delight at being able to chat with others from their country enabled shared phone numbers and they can begin to support each other independently and share useful information.

The families with children aged 3 months to 17 years enjoyed a shared picnic from apple cake to an Afghani spicy rice dish.

RRN staff and volunteers were able to provide individual support to parents.
Children enjoyed the wonderful play facilities on the Heath and took advantage of the pedalos on the lake.
