Our President, Joyce Perry died in September 2024 and on Friday, 4th October her memorial service was held at her church, United Reform Church in Petersfield. Her younger son, Alan told us that she had left her body to medical science but her ashes will eventually be laid next to Bert in the Garden of Remembrance outside the church. We learnt she started married life in Ghana and had her first son four hours drive from a hospital. She helped found Petersfield Voluntary Centre and signed the tenancy agreement on Winton House in 1982. In 2000 she was given an MBE for her services to Petersfield. Joyce signed the documents setting up the Winton House Centre in 2011 that presently occupies the same building. She was honoured by both the Petersfield voluntary Care Group and the Winton House Centre when we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Petersfield Voluntary Centre in 2023. Several trustees and volunteers were present to mark the passing of Joyce, who remained interested to the end in what she had helped found so many years earlier.
