What if someone gives you something you don’t want? PeCAN is teaming up with Winton House to organise a present exchange for unwanted Christmas gifts. Bring your unwanted presents (not charity shop goods) to Winton House in the first half of January and get a token in exchange.
Then on Saturday 15th January between 9.30 and 12 noon, come back to Winton House and select an exchange gift. Alternatively, you can donate your token so that someone else in the community can choose a present. Anything left over will be used to benefit Home Start Butser or Age Concern.
The aim is to reduce wastage and provide a route for nice but unneeded gifts to find a new home where they will be more appreciated.
This is a project by the community for the community.
Drop off unwanted gifts:
Every weekday from Tuesday 4th January to Friday 14th January, between 9.30am and 3.30pm
Choose a replacement gift:
Saturday 15th January between 9.30 and 12 noon
Winton House is located at 18 High Street, Petersfield. The Winton House Centre is a registered charity. The organisers may reject unsuitable items. The event will be managed in a Covid-safe manner.
Every time you reuse, regift, repair or recycle something, you are helping to reduce the 3.8 tonnes of CO2 that are consumed every year per household in Petersfield from the production and transportation of goods.
To find out how else you can reduce emissions in your household, visit the PeCAN website and take the ‘One Tonne Challenge’.

PeCAN is supported by the South Down National Park Authority to help the area reduce carbon emissions and transition to low-carbon living.
Our mission is to help Petersfield and surrounding villages reduce their carbon emissions and protect nature, which we do by leading and supporting decarbonisation and nature projects in the community. We work with local people and organisations to create the changes to our buildings, transport, natural environment, understanding and behaviour that our community needs to live sustainably. Our vision is for the Petersfield area to become carbon neutral as quickly as possible.
