Winton House Centre (WHC) Trustee David Kidd organised nine foursomes for a day of bridge on Friday 12th July to raise funds. Jenny Tickner (also a Trustee at WHC) organised a fabulous lunch, where the wine also went down well.
The game was made up of 24 hands of ‘Chicago’, (short bridge), everyone partnering each of the other three players on their table .
The winner, Penny Curran, scored 4,000 plus points, which followers of the game will know is quite amazing!
Five WHC volunteer chefs prepared the food – fresh salmon, coronation chicken and ten salads. Desserts included chocolate roulade and fresh fruit.
A team of ten WHC volunteers served the lunch and the coffee on arrival.
The raffle with ‘hamper’ prizes added to the fun and increased the funds raised.
Sarah Moss, Manager of the WHC, said: “Everyone had a great time with lots of fun, chat and laughter. Our volunteers made it work so well – thank you to all of them – and I add a special ‘thank you’ to Jenny and David for their hard work that drove this success. It really was a great social event and over £550 was raised. We’ve decided to buy a multimedia player (for film and music) which local charities will be able to hire too.”
