Winton House Center News Ticker

Keep Up To Date With Winton House

We had a fantastic turn-out at our Annual Meeting which saw the room packed with volunteers,  representatives from other organisations. and the Town Mayor. Our Chairman, Ric Girdlestone, told the audience of several new initiatives undertaken by Winton House including the monthly Memory Cafe and a new food waste initiative in partnership with M&S whereby Winton House redistribute the food to charities across the town. The Manager, Sheridan Rocher, gave a lively and entertaining talk entitled 'What do we do?'. A question often asked about Winton House. The meeting finished with Jeff Williams, of the Alzheimers Society, giving details of how the Memory Cafe forms part of the wider Dementia Friendly Petersfield scheme.

Did you know that Monday 19th September was International Talk Like a Pirate day? No we didn't either until Artscape, who hire our rooms, dressed up as pirates and toured the town. They started off here in our Tea Room and sang to a full room, with many sporting eye patches and singing along. It was such a good laugh and brightened up our Monday morning.

Meet our new baker, Holly who is aiming to achieve her Duke of Edinburgh award by baking for our Tea Room. She arrived this morning with a selection of cakes and scones that looked fantastic! We look forward to her baking for us each week starting in September.
